1. What makes Botanik by Jorji different from other natural brands?
Every product is formulated by a PhD-qualified formulation chemist who spent years in industry creating products for some of the big brands, and who understands the science behind how oils, butters, and waxes actually work with your skin. We use purposeful ratios of plant-based ingredients (never fillers, parabens, or synthetic fragrance) to create balms that truly perform, hydrating, soothing, and giving your skin that healthy, dewy glow.
2. Can I use the balm on my face and body?
Yes - our balms are multi-use and can be used anywhere you need hydration and glow. That includes face, lips, hands, elbows, cheekbones, or even legs for a healthy sheen. They absorb quickly and leave a soft, dewy finish (not a greasy one).
3. Is it safe for sensitive skin or children?
Our balms are made with gentle, natural ingredients like plant-based oils, butters, waxes, and Vitamin E - no parabens, preservatives, or synthetic fragrance.
Many customers have told us their children “borrowed” the pots and loved using them - and we’ve had wonderful feedback that they’ve experienced no sensitivities. That said, all skin is different, and we always recommend patch-testing on a small area first, especially for babies and children.
4. Can I use the balm during pregnancy or breastfeeding?
Our balms contain essential oils such as Lemon Verbena, Rosemary, Basil, and Black Pepper, which are natural and used in low concentrations. While they are gentle on the skin, some essential oils are not recommended during pregnancy, particularly in the first trimester.
We always suggest speaking with your healthcare provider before using any product containing essential oils while pregnant or breastfeeding - just to be safe.
5. Will it feel greasy or heavy?
Not at all. The blend of fractionated coconut oil, jojoba oil, mango butter, carrot butter, borage oil, and beeswax gives the balm a smooth, creamy texture that melts beautifully on contact with your skin. It absorbs quickly and leaves a hydrated glow - not a greasy film.
6. How should I store my balm? Will it melt in the heat?
Because we don’t use synthetic stabilisers or fillers, your balm will soften slightly in hot weather - that’s perfectly normal. Store it in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. If it does soften, just pop it in the fridge for a few minutes and it’ll firm back up with no change to its quality or performance.
7. What’s the shelf life of the product?
Around 12 months if stored in a cool, dry place with the lid closed tightly. Each batch is handmade in small runs to ensure freshness and because we use only pure oils and waxes and zero water, there’s no need for preservatives.
8. Do you test on animals?
Never. Our products are cruelty-free and bunny-safe. We only test on willing humans (like us and our amazing customers).
9. Are your ingredients vegan?
Not strictly vegan - we use beeswax (sustainably sourced). Our formulas are vegetarian and cruelty-free. We don’t use tallow, lanolin or any animal testing.
10. Is you mica ethically sourced?
Yes, we only use ethically sourced mica from verified suppliers who adhere to fair labour practices and do not engage in child labour.
11. Do you ship internationally?
Yes - via Australia Post International Standard with tracking. Most orders arrive in 7–15 business days (destination-dependent).
